New headteacher for Costessey Primary
Alex Griffiths has been named as the new headteacher at Costessey Primary School, as current leader Katie Lawson moves to her new role as Head of Education at our Trust.
Alex has been headteacher at Brooke Primary School since 2018, and Executive Head of the Sunflower Federation (Brooke and Hempnall Primary Schools) since September 2021. His successes in these schools have included a raising of standards for children's outcomes, the development of an inspiring curriculum and the development of shared practice across the two federation schools. This resulted in good Ofsted outcomes for each school and a good SIAMS (church school inspection) for Brooke Primary.
He is currently vice-chair and Primary chair of Educate Norfolk, an organisation representing the 409 Norfolk schools, working with a diverse range of organisations both locally and nationally to ensure that the most senior of Norfolk's education leaders have all the knowledge and tools they need to effectively lead their school communities.
Alex said: “I'm really excited about starting at Costessey Primary School, a great opportunity to work with an amazing staff team and a brilliant school community. I look forward to continuing the excellent work of Katie Lawson, and working closely with her in her new role within Evolution Academy Trust, which I am really looking forward to joining also.”
Outside of work, Alex is a keen club runner and local parkrunner. He lives near Norwich with his family. He has two daughters, aged five and seven.
Alex will work alongside Katie for the rest of the 2023-24 school year, with Katie taking up her central Trust role in September 2024.
