New Head of Education appointed
Experienced educator Katie Lawson will become Head of Education at Evolution Academy Trust later this year.
Katie has worked in education for 19 years, and spent the last eight as the Headteacher at Costessey Primary School. She oversaw the school’s most recent Ofsted visit, where it was judged to be Good with Outstanding features.
As Head of Education from September 2024, Katie will lead on education across the Trust, ensuring the organisation’s mission, values and strategic planning are aligned and supported through all work with schools. She will oversee the educational performance of the schools, developing and supporting all headteachers to continually improve what they provide for children.
Katie said: “I am hugely excited about joining the central team at Evolution Academy Trust as the Head of Education. I will really miss the day to day life in school, the wonderful colleagues and the amazing children but the Head of Education role brings a new challenge and one I am very excited to embark on.
“Through my work as school improvement partner at the Trust and through my role facilitating NPQH, I have found a real passion for supporting school improvement at all levels. Wherever a school is in the improvement journey, the importance of CPD is integral to change. I have led leadership training across the Trust this year and have seen first-hand the amazing people who work in our schools. My new role will be to empower them through highly effective CPD so that they in turn can empower their colleagues.
“I am looking forward to working with headteachers and their teams to support the improvement journey. I bring a wealth of experience but more importantly a desire to support, challenge and ensure the very best for the young people we serve.”
Dr Craig Avieson, CEO of Evolution Academy Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Katie to the central Trust team. Not only does she bring a wealth of knowledge and educational experience, she is also a dedicated and hard-working professional who will be an asset to our offering for all schools. I look forward to working with her for the benefit of our children and staff.”
